37 Week Update

  • Total weight gain: 34lbs (gained 2.5lbs in two weeks)
  • Sleep: Not enough.
  • Highlight: Setting up baby’s room!
  • Movement: Still very active and strong.
  • Food cravings: My appetite has been lacking lately, but I’m still into those blueberry muffins! Oh, and water. I’ve been so thirsty lately that all I want is ice cold water.
  • Symptoms: Lightning (aka baby dropping). I woke up in the middle of the night a few nights ago, feeling absolute discomfort. It felt like my whole pelvic area was stretching. I liken it to the feeling you get when your teeth braces are tightened and your whole mouth is in pain. That same night, I had to pee every hour! And it’s been that way since. That’s when I knew the baby had dropped. The doctor confirmed it today. He said the baby’s head was well down in my pelvis. No dilation yet though. It’s also been more difficult to walk with all that pressure.
  • Mood: Tired. Anxious. Excited. Scared.

Hi – being newly pregnant myself, I have loved reading your posts – mainly because they are very sweet and informing, and don’t fear monger or moan, the way it seems a lot of pregnancy / parenting blogs tend to end up. I am a long time Toronto Mike reader but never post (too intimidating for me), but I wanted to send you good wishes for the next couple weeks and I really hope you keep blogging once the baby arrives! (Especially on how you find cloth diapers!).

  3. Congratulations you’re nearly there~ before you know it your baby will be in your arms and you’ll have control of your body back! lol!
    Regarding how you’re pelvis is feeling…be careful getting in and out of cars, and on and off the bed. Your pelvis bone is stretching getting prepared for labour.
