It kills you to see them grow up.  But I guess it would kill you quicker if they didn't.

Many families have a Friday Night Movie tradition. They may order pizza, pick up a few DVDs or BlueRays and some popcorn, and cuddle up on the couch to decompress from their busy work weeks.

We have a movie night a few times a month, but with the kids 3, 5 and 7, it is sometimes hard to find a movie that they will all enjoy. The older boys like anything action or adventure, but Daughter still prefers Disney movies with anything princess.

A few of our favourites that keep everyone entertained:

  1. Cars
  2. Kung-Fu Panda
  3. Night at the Museum
  4. Star Wars (any of them)
  5. Harry Potter (the first three)
  6. Indiana Jones
  7. Journey to the Center of the Earth
  8. The Neverending Story
  9. Dr. Dolittle
  10. Ratatoullie
There are more that we watch - Mama Mia is Daughter's favourite but Husband would rather peel his eye-balls than watch it again.

What are your favourite movies?

For home movie nights we often now find the boys downstairs with Ironman or Spiderman or Star Wars and the girls upstairs with Mama Mia or Bring it On...We are slowly but surely migrating away from the animated films to action and ones in the theatre like 17 Again and The Hannah Montana Movie. We went to see Wolverine last weekend. I have to admit that I am enjoying going to not just for kids movies!

On a similar note I am sad to say that just recently my 7 year old daughter asked me to take down her Princess wall decorations...she has also asked recently when we can go to a spa for a pedicure.

Where does the time go? Weren't we just watching The Wiggles last month?

PS. Is it wrong that I may have laughed out loud at the hmaster meets boy meets glue post?

I think that you have to have sons to appreciate it!

Good idea about splitting up to watch the movies. I am still looking for a girl who wants to see 17 Again so I have an excuse! I have asked neighbours and friends to borrow their daughters, or to baby sit their nieces. May have to wait for the DVD. I can't justify going on my own.

My step-son who is now 24 used to be my excuse to see teenager movies...too bad he went and grew up and left for Western...my son, age 9 loved 17 again, although he did comment thet there was a lot of kissing. There is one scene (condoms in sex ed) where at first I started to panic but it didn't go where I thought it would thank goodness...they were clever and unless you knew what was in the little square packets you were none the wiser!

Husband and I are both Western grads. I am sure that our kids will end up at Queens, just to spite us!
