17-Week Update

While my 18-month old toddler is thriving, so is my 17-week old fetus.

Yes, I’m pregnant again.

We found out when I was 5 weeks along, and we couldn’t be happier.

My first trimester was slightly more difficult than it was in my first pregnancy. The nausea was worse, but it was still manageable without any meds so I can’t complain too much about it. And the fatigue was/is horrible. I couldn’t get enough sleep. I wanted to sleep at all hours of the day. I’m just now starting to get my energy back.

My first OB appt was at 8 weeks, and the doc was able to find the heartbeat. It was the doctor’s first time hearing one before the 9-week mark. This baby has already made history :)

I started showing at around 11 weeks, much earlier this time. By 14 weeks, I was happily unpacking my maternity clothes. Just by looking at me, there was no hiding it – there was no doubt I was pregnant.

We got our first peek at the active baby at my 12-week ultrasound. We went home with a little keepsake (a printout photo of the fetus), but it did cost $5, as opposed to free when I got it done for my first pregnancy. I’m not sure if the cost differs by lab, since I did go to different labs, or if all labs now charge for a printout.

At week 16, I felt the little person move. I absolutely love that feeling. I can’t wait to feel more of it.
